Sources, citations and methodology
This guide is built around primary law and official court materials. Summaries are educational interpretations, not substitutes for the full record, current law or advice from counsel.
How we research
- Start with primary authority.
Use Delaware Code, Court of Chancery Rules, published opinions and official Judiciary materials wherever available.
- Identify the court level.
Distinguish Court of Chancery trial decisions from Delaware Supreme Court appellate decisions and decisions of other courts.
- Summarize narrowly.
Describe the central issue and holding without turning fact-specific decisions into universal rules.
- Link to the source.
Provide citations and direct links to available opinion text, and a separate link to the official opinion portal.
- Recheck procedural information.
Rules, fees, judges, filing platforms and calendars can change. The official source controls.
The Case Law Explorer is a curated selection of educationally significant decisions, not a complete case database, docket service, citator or citator substitute. It does not automatically identify subsequent treatment, negative history or pending appeals.
